Hailed as "impeccable" (Broadway World), award-winning American mezzo-soprano Gillian Lynn Cotter is quickly impressing audiences with her strong voice and dynamic presence. Recent roles include Suzuki in Madama Butterfly (Pensacola Opera), Older Alyce in Glory Denied (Pensacola Opera), Sister Helen Prejean in Dead Man Walking (Shreveport Opera) and Rinaldo in Rinaldo (Fresco Opera).
Ms. Cotter is currently an Apprentice Artist at the Santa Fe Opera where she is covering the role of Karolka in Jenůfa and will perform the role of Hänsel in scenes from Hänsel und Gretel in the Apprentice Scenes Program. This past season, Ms. Cotter was seen singing the role of Angelica in the world premier of A Capacity for Evil with Opera MODO and made her debut as Hansel in Hansel and Gretel with Opera Louisiane and Petra in A Little Night Music with Opera Ithaca.

Gillian Lynn Cotter will return to the Santa Fe Opera as a member of the prestigious Apprentice Artist Program where she will cover the role of Karolka in Jenůfa, perform with world-renowned soprano Renée Flemming in Letters from Georgia recital and will be featured in the Apprentice Scenes Showcase.

This fall, Gillian Lynn Cotter will perform the role of Angelica in the world premier of A Capacity for Evil with Opera MODO. A Capacity for Evil is the debut opera written by award winning composer Evan L. Snyder, and is the winner of the Fort Worth Opera Frontiers Competition for new works. She will also make her house and role debuts as Hansel in Hansel and Gretel with Opera Louisiane and Petra in A Little Night Music with Opera Ithaca.
